Joseph Gordon Levitt has just been announced to join the cast for Christopher Nolan’s third “Batman” film – “The Dark Knight Rises”. Levitt’s character will play a gangster in the third film, alongside new cast member Anne Hathaway. The rest of “The Dark Knight Rises” cast includes Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman, and Michael Caine. The movie will begin filming this May.

Joseph Gordon Levitt went off the radar for a while after his break-out stardum in 1996 with “3rd Rock From the Sun” and “10 Things I Hate About You” (1999). Levitt came back in 2009 with his box office hit “500 Days of Summer” (also starring Zoey Deschanel) and in 2010 with “Inception” (also starring Leonardo Dicaprio).

In addition to filming “The Dark Knight Rises” Levitt will also be filming, “Live With It” — new comedy starring Seth Rogan and Anna Kendrick and “Looper” — Action/Sci-Fi film starring Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo, Bruce Willis, and Paul Dano.
